Bullfighting is an art, not a sport, in Mexico. People often look away when the bull is killed – it isn’t what they came to see. It is a hugely misunderstood event, although admittedly, there is violence against animals so whether it is a sport or not is academic for some. And there are plenty of Mexicans who really don’t like it, including my other half and her family.
But it is still pretty popular. I will try and go to see one, not least because the world’s largest, and possibly most famous, bullring is in Mexico City. As you can see from the video, they start them young! Actually, this kid is very much the exception, and seems to have a big future ahead of him.
