The News Returns

English language papers aren’t easy to find in Mexico. The Mexico version of the Miami Herald was the sole option till that was discontinued a few months ago. But an old publication has been brought out of the cupboard, dusted off and put on the shelves. Not many shelves it has to be said. Sanborns carries it, maybe Wal Mart too. It’s a pretty skinny paper, and I’m not really sure how well it will do. It has a website. Sort of. Is there really a market for it? Most countries looking to sell foreign language papers simply ship in the most popular rag from that nation. You can find USA Today and Le Monde in London, for example. I bought Saturday’s edition. What it had in it was ok. Even a tiny bit on upcoming English football matches – perhaps they could give me a column! I’m sure I could add more substance to it!
