Los Voladores

This is a centuries old tradition of the people of El Tajin, near Veracruz. But fear not, you can see them perform in Mexico City opposite the Anthropological Museum on Reforma – nearest metro is probably Auditorio. It’s a little crazy, but a popular spectacle, and they are well worth the few pesos donation that you will surely feel obliged to give. After a little dance around their very tall pole, five of them climb to the top. One will stay there playing his flute while the others spin back down to planet earth on their ropes.
