Last year we finally got Sky TV, having given up on Cablevision ever being available in our area. I wanted Cablevision for several reasons. It included cable internet, meaning I could get rid of my Telmex phone connection and use Skype instead. Overall it would have been cheaper. And it included BBC World, which you only get with the top, prohibitively expensive, Sky package.
But Sky was the only option, so Sky it was. But hallelujah! BBC have finally got a channel showing in the lower package we are subscribed to – BBC Entertainment. Admittedly, I’m not interested in a lot of the content. But Paola’s dad will finally be able to come round and watch Top Gear with Spanish subtitles. And we have just watched a series called Gavin and Stacey which I hadn’t heard of before. It was brilliant though – best TV series I’ve seen since (the original UK version) Cold Feet.
And there are also a lot of cooking shows, which keeps Paola occupied. Including Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, which I do quite enjoy too. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that this channel isn’t just showing on the lower packages for it’s first month or two! If you don’t get this channel by the way, it is possible to download most of these shows using Bittorrent – I really recommend Gavin and Stacey. It sounds crap, but is actually hilarious!
