Diego Rivera

I really should know more about this guy, as he is one of Mexico’s most famous artists of all time. But then I’m just not a big arty person. So when I do recommend going to see a few paintings, you can probably safely assume they must be good to have attracted my attention. Or else my taste in art is so undeveloped and Neanderthal that you shouldn’t listen to a word I say….who knows.

Anyway, he was about in the first and middle part of the last century, prancing around Mexico City’s most bohemian neighbourhood with his other half, Frida Kahlo (also muy famosa) and rubbing shoulders with Mexico’s Who’s Who of the time, including Leon Trotsky.

The piccies I have posted are murals on interior walls of the Presidential Palace (National Palace, or whatever it’s official title is) located on one side of the city’s Zocalo. You can find his murals elsewhere in the city.
