Hugo’s Dream Debut…

Mexico played their first game since the World Cup yesterday. I think so anyway – it’s seems such a long time to go without a game, but there you go. The big feature of the night was Hugo Sanchez, Mexican footballing legend, former Real Madrid superstar and European Golden Boot winner. He has been installed as the new manager of the national team after La Volpe left after the World Cup, and his employment seems a popular decision. A genuine Mexican hero…

But his face above suggests how his first outing went. Admittedly I have half inched the photo from another website and it wasn’t taken last night, but still…the facial expression still says it all. United States 2, Mexico 0.

The Mexicanos did play some reasonable stuff to be honest, but the finishing wasn’t there by a long shot, if you’ll forgive the pun.
