English Books

I bought some new books for a couple of classes of students today. Choosing a good course book is vital! Pick a boring one and you’re either stuck with it for 6 to 12 boring months, with several bored students, all wondering why are they bothering to turn up. There’s a good chance they won’t. So after a couple of years, you’ve been through quite a few, and end up with your favourites. I’ve been teaching MacMillan’s Inside Out Pre Intermediate to a few classes, the first of which is about to finish. So off to the bookshop I went to get the next level, Intermediate.

It was there on a shelf, along with the Upper Intermediate and Advanced (gosh, all this lingo I’m teaching you – 2 pesos please!) which I will fork out for eventually. The Inside Out series are great. A little bit of everything – grammar, conversation, reading, listening – all laid out in a reasonably inspiring format. I highly recommend it! If ever you have call for such a book, of course…
