So Mr Patel went to the vet and had his consultation, and the good news is that he has no fungus nor an infection. The problem was a sharp part of his shell that was cutting into his neck. He was kept in for a few hours to have the offending bit of shell filed off, as you can see (sort of!) from the photo and was giving a prescription to help prevent any infection setting in. I have to rub a cream into his wound twice a day, which he won’t like because he can’t go back into the water for a couple of hours after each application. The cost? A total of 415 pesos! Turtles are bloody expensive – could have bought another 20 baby turts for that money!
