Museo de Arte Popular

Yesterday me and Pao went off to see the MAP. Museum of Popular Art, just in case you had trouble translating the title! I think it is perhaps my favourite museum in Mexico City. Maybe. Along with Dolores Olmedo, Franz Mayer and the San Ildefonso, it’s up there at the top anyway. It’s in a slightly different part of the Centro Historico which is also nice. The museum is set on three floors and basically has lots of modern art, including a great display af Alebrejes – mythical dream creatures. If ever you pass through the city it’s definitely worth checking out. If you have tourist dollars to spend as well, then the gift shop is probably the best you’ll find in a museum in this city. Also the most expensive… It usually has a temporary exhibition of some kind too. At the moment they have one all about papyrus, from both Egypt and Mexico. All very interesting! Afterwards, we bought a couple of tickets at the Teatro Metropolitan to go and see an orchestra and choir perform Queen on Friday, so we have something else to look forward to!
