One of my favourite photos from the 365 project I just finished, was one of the last. Of Torre Mayor, as shown below, and as shown a bit bigger here on Flickr. Although it’s not doing so well in the monthly vote, it has to be said. I had been playing with a few HDR programs to create some original looking shots, with mixed success. In fact, mostly little or no success.
But I am beginning to get the hang of it. Not every photo is an HDR candidate. Most software seems to work better on some photos than others. I have come to the conclusion that any photo with plenty of glass, sky or water will probably look at least ok. I should also mention that because I’m shooting handheld with an auto camera, I’m using software to turn a single shot into an HDR photo, rather than merging three shots.
The most recent bit of software I’ve been using is Photomizer which has worked well. Better than previous bits of digital kit I’d utilised. The photo below shows the before and after. It isn’t free, but they do give you an unrestricted free trial. Would I pay for it? I probably would actually, if I had the cash. But I’m shockingly broke at the moment, so on to the next HDR photo suite!
