This is the equivalent of “Happy Birthday”, played at every party in the country. At Lilly, someone seems to have a mini birthday party every other day, and without fail Las Mañanitas will be pumped up on the stereo in the cafeteria. I found (or so Paola tells me) the original, from a film starring the legendary and much loved Pedro Infante.
