More and more bicentenary decorations are appearing. The trains on the Mexico City metro are often draped in Mexico City related art, and the celebration stuff has finally taken hold of one. I hope to get some better photos later.
Nice look…have you seen the “Umbral del Centenario del Revolución Mexicana” postage stamp? It’s a fragment of a Siqueros mural and measures 3 1/16 x 3 1/16 inches (8 x 8)…way too large for a postcard, and takes up about half an envelope! I wanted to get some to mount and frame as little gifts, but the small postoffice in the town where I live about half the year (Loreto, BCS) ran out very quickly!
Not a terribly practical stamp, but then, it’s stuff like this, and the fact that the official post office colors are fuschia, white, and lime green, that makes me love México!
I haven’t seen that stamp, but next time I pass the P.O. I’m going to have to go and have a look for it!
There is a really nice commemorative collection of stamps for the Bicentenario in the Post Office. I’m thinking about it…it would make a nice souvenir. But it is soooo pricey.
