Using filters to create a nice image is cheating. But it’s stop it from being a nice image. This one was created using Oil Painting Effect. The results are not very customiseable, but that makes it a cinch to use. It’s also free.
The subject is Eilean Donan castle, near Dornie on the east coast of Scotland. It’s a very photogenic castle, but for best results one really needs the sun and tide to co-operate, to provide a blue backdrop and a shimmering, liquid foreground.
Alas, both sun and tide gave me the middle finger when I was there, offering only castle-camoflage grey skies and a murky Trump style swamp.
What did the original look like in comparison?

Amazing. I think I prefere the original, though. 🙂

The original has still had a bit of processing. But not quite to the degree of destruction of the top image!
I see you have just been there yourself. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
