The number of confirmed cases is publicised daily. As are the deaths. The Beeb has a page where you can search for confirmed cases in your area. But most people displaying symptoms are not being tested, not are they being accounted for in the estimated numbers of sick. The best we’ve had is a guess that 5000 to 10000 are currently carrying the disease.
Is no one (preferably the authorities) keeping track of those who are self isolating and recording the cases on a public ally available database? It seems to me that it would be fairly simple to set up a website that allows people to register themselves.
It could be anonymous. Recording just the first three digits of a post code would do. They could record themselves as either displaying symptoms, or as isolating out of precaution having been in contact with a potential carrier. Perhaps anyone calling 111 could be given a code to enter in order to register themselves, in order to prevent people entering false date.
This data could then be publicly available. We’d know how much at risk we are. Where the hotspots are. I’m sure the data could be useful in multiple ways. It’s just a thought…
