Netflix List
I suspect there’s a few million people looking for something to watch right now. Either your self isolating or, more likely, just going out a bit less. I’ve seen plenty of people on Twitter seeking recommendations on what to watch on Netflix. Let me offer up a choice of three slightly left field options. Three very different movies. I’m no Mark Kermode, so this is no in-depth review. Just recommendations.
First up is Jane, featured in the trailer embedded above. Mrs P spotted this playing at the Lighthouse in Poole a year and a half ago. We went along and watched what is a charming story of a young woman making her mark on the world. She lived in Bournemouth for a while as a child and still comes back here. We recently went to see her, in conversation with John Simpson, in London. You can watch that conversation on Youtube.

My second suggestion is a Mexican movie. Acapulco La Vida Va tells a story of three old chaps who go on holiday together to, as you might have already guessed, Acapulco.. It’s subtitled. It’s delightful. It’s worthy of your time, and if foreign movies isn’t normally your thing, this is a pretty easy one to watch.
Last but not least is a much more recent Netflix Original, starring Adam Sandler, which – it seems to me – has been given very little media coverage. I thought Uncut Gems was brilliant. Once of the most tense movies I’ve watched in a very long time.
Enjoy. Stay well.
