The Story of Things

Two weeks ago today, on the spur of the moment, Mrs P and I went up to London to visit an exhibition. I had discovered a means of getting discounted tickets to the Tutankhamen exhibition in Chelsea, and as we had nothing better to do, we set off on the train to go see it. What a different world we lived in then…

I like museums. I have always been fascinated by ancient Egypt. For me, this was a ‘must see’. My favourite exhibit? The one in the photo. It’s a necklace found in Tut’s tomb, made famous by the person who discovered the entrance to the underground chambers. That person was, as everyone knows, Howard Carter  Hussein Rasoul. A young boy who noticed a step, half hidden in the sand. One small step for Hussein, one giant leap for Howard Carter.

The best exhibits, in my opinion, are always those that have an engaging story. A human story. Better still, a non Covid_19 story – unless you wish to read more into the story of civilisations coming and going than I intended…
