Arbol de la Noche Triste
We have completed a three day binge of the eight episode long Hernan. It’s available on Amazon Prime in some countries. In other countries, you’ll have to be more enterprising if you wish to see it. It’s good. It lacks the sense of scale of the real events. You usually feel you’re watching the tale of a small band of happy campers in a rustic village, rather than a small army invading one of the great cities of the age. There’s a bit of artistic license, as you’d expect. But it is certainly worth watching.
Towards the end of the final episode, you might notice a tree. A huge beast of a tree. It’s a CGI interpretation of the real thing. It would have to be. The real thing is a shadow of its former self, withered by age and severed by lightning strikes. The real thing is shown in the photo above. A photo I took nearly a decade ago now.
