The Lockdown Miscreants

There is a debate raging over the power of government to order the population to stay indoors and the freedom of the individual to do as he or she pleases. I take both views on board when decision making, and act accordingly. I ask myself a few questions, and if I get the right answers, then I proceed. With caution, of course.

Am I creating any extra, unreasonable risk? Risk of spreading disease, risk of causing public resources to be otherwise stretched? Am I visibly setting a poor example? Will anyone even notice? Does anyone even care?  I could truthfully answer ‘no’ to all questions. So in my mothers back garden, having dropped off her shopping at the front door, Mrs P and I fired up our Lotus Grill barbecue and grilled some burgers and sausages. We sat in the sun for a few hours chatting, eating and catching the rays.

This is common sense in action. Alas, a hard lockdown has been needed because a huge number of people wouldn’t know how to spell common sense, let alone put it into practice. Parks and beaches up and down the country were heaving today as people met up with their friends for beer and pizza.
