Tumblr Review

I’m using Tumblr for blogging for a few reasons. It’s free, it’s pretty simple, it’s great for displaying up to ten photos in a gallery and it can be customised in a number of ways. It’s also pretty terrible in a number of regards. Matching it up with the domain name was a pain, it won’t show the comment count on the front page and clicking the headline does nothing (it should open the post), the back office stuff is spread across several pages of menus.

Tumblr was not long ago bought by Automattic , owners of WordPress. I’m hoping that they’ll build on the good stuff and fix the bad. Of course, they might very well just shut the whole thing down. We’ll see. At the very least, I do hope that if the UK does properly exit the EU, we’ll drop the absurd requirement to run a GDPR banner, as shown in image above. ILeaving should come with at least one benefit…
