Fake News

From today’s Times newspaper. That isn’t Brownsea Island, that is the spit of land that is Sandbanks. One of the chief giveaways is that the photograph is clearly of a spit of land, not an island. I did have it put to me in a discussion today that whilst this is true, we do have the Isle of Purbeck just a little further down the coast, and yet that is not an island either. I countered with the factoid that an isle can be either an island or (as is the case with Purbeck) a peninsula. Sloppy work, Times. Very sloppy.
