I’d love to know where you see the bigotry because I don’t. Here in the USA this has become a polarized issue between the left and the right. I can tell you from reading right-wing media, that in every case that I can find the use of terms like “Kung Flu,” “Chinese Virus,” or whatever that’s not COVID, as far as I can tell (which isn’t perfect) the underlying reason is exactly what I wrote. Under what conditions are you seeing bigotry?

I thought long and hard whether or not to answer the question. Some scabs are best left for someone else to scratch. Any response certainly wasn’t fairly placed on Steve’s blog. So I forgot about it for a while. But screw it. It is, quite frankly, patently obvious, supported by an abundance of self-incriminating evidence and he is entirely deserving of all the negative associations of the vocabulary.

You can’t promote the likes of the Proud Boys, drone on about racial superiority, engage with so much deflective whataboutery, start so many passages with ‘I’m not a racist, but…” and spend the best part of a decade deriding Obama for not being black enough. These are just a few titbits off the top of my head and off the tip of the iceberg.

You know that Felipe is properly racist, right? At best. At worse, it’s perhaps not unreasonable to suggest there’s a bit of white supremacy at play there too. And I really don’t think this is a controversial or subjective conclusion…
