There is light at the end of the tunnel. A vaccination, or several vaccinations, seem likely to be rolled out across the U.K. and other wealthy countries imminently. Perhaps within just a few weeks. It’ll take quite some time to complete the task though. And I do wonder how and when restrictions will be relaxed. Are we at the beginning of the end? Or just the end of the beginning?
I would assume that most restrictions on leisure activities and events will be removed once the over 60s and vulnerable have had their shot. Face coverings might stick around a little longer. Overseas travel? If the vaccines prevent serious illness but not infection/transmission then it is possible that a number of developing countries who count tourism as one of their main sources of income may face a difficult decision. Do they wait till they’ve had their supply of shots before opening up?
I’m hoping to be towards the front of the queue when it comes to a vaccine. I’m technically a key worker, in the transport industry, so there’s a good chance I’ll be amongst the first. I don’t like being ill. I’m an utter wuss if truth be told. I have a cold at the moment, but I can’t complain. There are worse viruses I could have caught, right?
I thought it was worse, last night. I barely slept, tossing and turning and sweating buckets. I feared the worst. Was it just a cold? Or the plague. It transpired that I had actually left the central heating on at 23 degrees all night. Pft. Never mind, I soldier on. Mrs P and had our walk this morning. There’s light at the end of the pier, not just at the end of the tunnel.
