There are three that stand out. Palenque and the Agua Azul in Chiapas. The Copper Canyon. But at the top of the list is the little (former) silver mining town of Guanajuato. I think some people still grab a little bit of the stuff out of mines somewhere, but that’s not why people go there these days. Palenque and the Copper Canyon are places you visit. But I could happily move to Guanajuato and live there, at least for a while.
It is kinda quiet compared to Mexico City, but so long as I’ve got satellite TV and a broadband internet connection, I’ll be able to fill any spare hours! The town itself has a perfect climate, it’s clean and it is just stunning as far as colour, architecture and atmosphere are concerned. I can see how Diego Rivera, who was born here, got so inspired! It’s the sort of place that would have anyone reaching for a pen and paper, or canvas and paints.
