Things have been quiet in this part of the interweb these last couple of weeks. Maybe you noticed, maybe you didn’t. Nothing is wrong. But one is moving. A man’s home is his castle, and one has decided a new castle is in order for 2014. One would have liked a palace instead, but in the current economic climate, a cosy little one bedroom flat, all very modern by the by, is more in order. I guess I’ll have to take you on a tour of my new hood soonish.
Moving is a surprisingly strenuous ordeal. Who knew how much junk one can accumulate in less than three years? Anyway, we’re very happy with our new flat and it’s in a great location. I’ve decided to move my blog into a new home too. Again. Maybe this one will stick. We’ll see. Otherwise, dear Pilcrow, I will return….

I hate moving – and I have done it a lot – so you have my condolences – feels so good when you get it done.

It’s nearly done. It will feel so much better when we have a sofa to sit on. But that takes a few weeks to arrive. At least the wait for a bed was only a couple of days!

As one whose mother would only list his address in pencil, my sympathies… and congratulations on finding your own castle (one, presumably, much easier to clean than a palace… and saving you the trouble of all those butlers and maids underfoot).

I married a Mexican woman Rich. You should know well enough that that makes me both butler and maid…. 🙂

I was wondering what had become of you. But of course I knew you were moving, so should have put two and two together.
As for the theme, it’s nice and clean. Elegant even. But I really liked the random header photos of the old one, since you take such nice photos. Frankly, if you weren’t already using Pilcrow, I probably would have chosen it for my own blog as I like it that much. But now that I have it, I’m very happy with Chateau, which is both clean and elegant.
In truth, as long as your theme isn’t ugly, content triumphs all.

Where the sheer dread of moving is part of the reason why we haven’t pulled up stakes and gone to Mexico yet.

I too liked Pilcrow. That I stuck with it for so long and kept returning to it says as much. But I just want a theme that is a little wider, with nicer formatting on the sidebars.
I have updated the banner, with a twist on my images. Some of them work better than others. I’ll revisit the banner images another day when I have more time.
I suspect your move to Mexico will be more arduous than our little traipse across the county. However I suspect our move to Mexico, whenever that comes, will be a little easier than this one. There’s only so much you can fit in a few suitcases.

I see now what you’re doing with the header photos. Perhaps “THE MEXILE” should be in some color other than black. Initially I didn’t “get” it, as the photo under it didn’t really lend itself to what you were doing. If you used the same grey as the menu bar, it might work better.

The background really needs to be black because of the theme colour palette. Which means that the images I choose need to be simple, light and bright. Some of the original batch definitely weren’t any of those. I’ve uploaded a new batch, which are hopefully a little more appropriate.

It looks nice now with the new pics. But you could also doe the background in the same red as you have “labour” in.

Moving is cool. So says the man who makes up for staying in the same place for five years by constantly traveling. We look forward to photographs. Yours. Not mine.

Moving is cool. Providing you’re referring to the change of scenery as opposed to the physical labour of actually doing it!
