Notting Hill Carnival is held over two days. We went on Sunday, which is designated family day. Children can come and marvel at the costumes in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment. Indeed, kids are encouraged to participate in the processions, giving them the opportunity to dress up and and have fun.
On family day, any couples or groups who might feel a bit frisky may simulate sex in the middle of the street, but must remain at least partially clothed. Casual smoking of weed is permissible, but crack and smack users are kindly asked to refrain from indulging until after dark. Under no circumstances should any police officers be stabbed before the little ones bedtime, although threats to that effect are allowed before the watershed.
