I regularly way over-process photos. I shouldn’t, because I really know better. But I do it anyway. Sometimes, it’s because the screen I’m using isn’t calibrated properly, and whilst the image looks great now, it won’t on any other device. Sometimes, it’s because the image is just a poor image, and a bit of over-processing seems at the time a great way to save it. Instead of delete it, which is what I probably should do. Sometimes, I’m just over enthusiastic, Sometimes, it’s just because I’m lazy and applying a not entirely appropriate preset is just quicker and easier than making the right adjustments manually.
But sometimes, the processing process works out nicely and the image comes out just right. Like this one of a few boats on Bournemouth beach. I had originally converted this image into a simple black and white photo. Later in Instagram I applied a sepia like filter. It worked. So I came back to Lightroom and finished off the original.
Looks very good to me.

Gracias. They would look nicer still with a bit of warm Pacific water splashing about their bows…

It reminds me a little bit of Celestun where the water is warm!
