The Grain Is Always Greener…

I was a reasonably early adopter with digital photography. My first camera was a Sanyo 1.3mp model, when anything over 1mp was considered cutting edge technology. The problem it had was excessive noise in low light. Which was the bane of digital photography for many years, first with dedicated cameras and then with phone based cameras.

Technology has done wonders in reducing, even eliminating noise from digital imagery in recent years. Ironic then, that we have all fallen in love with filters which add grain back into the picture. Ostensibly to recreate the look and feel of old analog photography. Yet also making a mockery of the technological advances that photographers demanded for so long…
