The Whitewash

I have received a reply from my MP, Mr Conor Burns, to the letter I wrote last month.  The first page and a half of the letter were spent acknowledging the strength of feeling of many of his constituents regarding Cummings escapades, and explaining that his trip to Durham didn’t technically go against the letter of the law. This is already known. I didn’t need to be told this again.

So how did Mr Burns deal with the Cummings trip from Durham to Barnard Castle, which was declared by the police to be illegal? A single paragraph was deemed sufficient by Burns. It didn’t actually deal with Cummings legal transgression. Burns simply pointed out that the person who made the initial complaint to the police was himself on an illegal trip. He failed to actually offer a comment either for or against the single most important issue.

This is unacceptable. I shall write again. Because, why not?
