The Source

The name Bournemouth suggests that the town is built at the point where a river meets the sea. And that suggestion is correct. Here’s a photo of the River Bourne, a couple of hundred metres before it spits out into the sea. It’s not much of a river, is it? Also, it disappears underground about a hundred metres before meeting the sea, so there is no longer a visible ‘mouth’.
