RNI Films

I do almost all of my photo processing on my iPad these days. In fact, I don’t remember the last time I used my Mac. I use Apple Photos to import, organise and store my photos. I use Pixelmator Pro for a lot of basic adjustments. But I’ve mostly been using RNI Films to add attractive film simulations to my shots.

RNI has a decent iOS app with a range of presets. You can purchase more presets inside the app. I’ve bought the lot over the last year. They do two other iOS apps, RNI Flashback and RNI Aero. The former is only £3.99 but doesn’t do anything the main app doesn’t do. Aero is ok, but outrageously expensive. Outrageously expensive is how I’d summarise their Lightroom app too. Which is a shame.

Still, I’m happy with what I’ve got on my iPad. The photo above? Brutalist architecture in Southampton. Its a city full of awful concrete blocks. Blame the Germans. The docks and surrounding city were obliterated by the Luftwaffe in the war.

  1. So you use Apple Photos to import, organise and store all your photos…..? Well, you are one of the happy few on this planet…???

    1. I can’t Jack, I’m afraid. I don’t have a Nikon camera. However, I have no trouble importing RAW files from my Fuji XT20. That said, the JPG output from my Fuji is so good I don’t bother with RAW.

And if we’re going to be totally honest, I’ve gotten very lazy with my photography these days. More often than not, I leave the Fuji at home and just tote my iPhone…
