Vichy America

The US is lost. Not just for four years. For the foreseeable. Even if sanity is restored, a return of trust will take a generation or more. The fifth column within now has total power, taking orders from the fascist paymaster in the East. The fight for Europe will soon begin. The first battles that must be won are against the fifth columns within the UK and the EU. Personalities like Farage and Le Pen, with their overt Russian links. And leaders like Orban.

Folk talk about the danger to democracy in the US. Too many dismiss it as idle talk. But I think it will likely come to pass that Trump will need to retain power, whether himself or through an obedient puppet regime, for the same reason Putin does. The scale and seriousness of his crimes – those committed and those to be committed – will dictate that he must.

The US has gone from being ally to rival to enemy in less than a fortnight. There will be consequences to that. Who will be the first in Trump’s circle to be sanctioned by the EU? Will the state visit to the UK be cancelled? One hopes so. At the same time, I’d rather like to go to the protest. I went to the one in 2018 and got some half decent photos. Trump is going to be pumping out nonsense on a daily basis for the next four years. I will need new stock.

  1. It brings the horror of Hitler to mind. He and Musk have a goal of turning the entire world into a business they can manipulate.

    1. Every new tyrant is unique. And the newbies get compared to Hitler for the same reason we compare empires to the British one, geniuses to Einstein, football clubs to Real Madrid – they are the gold standard in their fields.

But let’s hope all future comparisons to Trump are based on him setting the standard for failure and depravity.

  2. The joke in Ireland, notably Grafton Street in Dublin when I was a lad which was neither today nor yesterday was that you could hear Americans before you could see them. For the most part they were loud and unaware of their surroundings and colourful.
‘Rump has brought this to a whole new level with his bellicose and obnoxious behaviour. He reminded me recently of an A type personality I know who thinks she knows it all but is in fact oblivious as we can see through her every move, it’s quite hilarious to be honest.

Trudeau got under ‘rumps skin in his last ‘residency when he and Macron were sniggering at a summit some years back so he’s had it in for him ever since. A sort of a grudge baby if you will. 🤪 Trudeau has been a good egg generally although he did falter a few times he did get us through Covid almost unscathed. Trudeau’s term will be over today as leader of the Liberal party when a new flavour will be installed. Then they will elect a new premier soon, so we will be rudderless for a little while. I’d like it to be Chrystia Freeland as ‘rump is afraid of her (look up her bio on Wikipedia, she’s a really impressive woman) however Mark Carney is also in the running, previously a governor of the Bank of England although not a politician has certain merits guiding Canada through the 2008 financial nightmare.

Well oddly enough we don’t get all the diatribe and verbal diarrhea from the shit house on our farcebook feed due to the later not being willing to pay for Canadian news and TV companies for their content. So in a sense we are cocooned away from it. Of course we are not oblivious to the turd de force’s attempts to disable the world order, the gold standard and destroy his own economy whilst his erstwhile buddy Lone Skum dismantles the government. Another type A mind you with the brain of a ferret. He will nibble here and there, despatch emails willynilly and in no time at all the US will be in tatters. It’s remarkable isn’t it that so many lives and careers have been destroyed in so little time much like the asteroid that took out the dinosaurs in Chicxulub all those years ago. We need another one again to remove beavis and butthead in one fell swoop. Unfortunately skums rocket skip missed the mark.a.lago this time.

    Oh well maybe next time..

    1. Very witty Colm, and always good to catch up on the views from the sane part of ‘across the pond’. I suspect there are more and more from SoB who are thinking that having King Charles as HoS might be an upgrade on their present arrangement. Maybe it can be discussed. But obviously, there’s an awful lot of back tax to be paid on tea first.

I opened the news app before the WordPress app this morning, so I knew your preferred candidate hadn’t won the day before I knew that she was your preferred candidate. I’m very familiar with Mark Carney, of course. He’s extremely well respected here for his tenure as chief of the Bank of England. Are you a podcast person? Leading offers some interesting insights into some interesting people. Last weeks was the two candidates for Trudeau job.

      1. Thanks I’ll have a gander at that later, I listen to the odd podcast here and there. There are so many out in the wild it’s hard to separate the chaff from the grain. I don’t know if you’ve seen this ewe tube video from John Oliver. He is quite witty and fast with it but he does explore what to expect from the don wannabe and what a sad sh!t he really is!

It occurred to me today that with ‘rump shredding contracts across the board the multitude of countries such as the UK, Germany and France that are hosting US facilities could reclaim their land and evict the orange tyrant as spoils of war. With his troops and bombers already in place around the world nothing short of a mutiny could prevent him claiming your countries as his.

Since the original fall of the USSR European armies have been disbanded and dismantled and that leaves Europe very exposed to the dilemma of what is going to happen next. War games are all very well and fine I suppose but they also expose the underbelly and weaknesses of your opponents be they friend or foe! On the other hand the American’s have a massive army and it is a sleeping giant, well endowed heavily armed and no where to go and guess what he’s plulled the plug on the top brass.

Of course he could just be swashbuckling and sabre rattling or is he?
