A sand cliff eroding onto a beach-nice geology for a resort area.

That works in theory. In practise, sea defences have halted natural erosion of the cliff which in turn has deprived the beaches of fresh sand to replace old sand that’s been swept down the coast.

There are vast dune fields on the north shore of Lake Erie, the south side, not so much. Guess which side had its sand carted away in the nineteen century for building and casting material? I have old plat maps from the 1800s that are missing about a half mile of streets and houses in places today-the lake ate them.
